MAYA: One association for yachting and cruise

MAYA now operates as the Maldives Association of Yachting & Cruise Advancement, bringing both sectors within one shared association platform.

MAYA is the Maldives Association of Yachting & Cruise Advancement. The association brings yachting and cruise together on one platform, with a single mandate applied to both sectors.

The two sectors carry equal weight within the association. Yachting and cruise operate differently in practice, but they share the same coastline, the same harbours and much of the same shore support, so they are represented through one shared structure rather than separate bodies.

What the association works on

  • Representation: bringing member experience into industry and institutional discussion.
  • Professional standards: supporting consistent, practical standards of service and conduct.
  • Collaboration: connecting members, operators and stakeholders working across the same waters.
  • Responsible growth: supporting growth that the country's environment and infrastructure can carry.

Continuity of the MAYA name

The MAYA name continues from the association's earlier work with yacht agents. The name is retained because the membership, the practitioners and the working relationships behind it continue.

Membership of MAYA is an association relationship. It is not an accreditation, a licence or an endorsement of any individual member's services.
